121229 [NEWS] Top 5 Class Clowns (OF COURSE JOON'S ON THAT LIST)
ENEWSWORLD: [12 Days of 2012] Top 5 Class Clowns
Although we’re looking forward to what 2013 has in store, we can’t
close out 2012 without looking back on the stars, dramas, movies and
more that shined this year, so we’re launching a new series here at
enewsWorld, called 12 Days of 2012, to round up and reflect on one exciting year in Korean entertainment.
We had many reasons to smile this year, and today, we’re saluting the funnymen who ran the variety world in 2012, making us laugh and cry—from the sidesplitting pain, of course.
While many of his fellow sexy, free and single Super Junior members busily took on the acting world, Shindong stuck to what he does best, delivering laughs to viewers on variety shows like Strong Heart and as an MC on Mnet’s The Beatles Code 2.
Maybe that’s why no one seemed all that surprised upon learning Shindong was originally set to debut as a comedian. Now, we get the best of both worlds from the hilarious idol star, and we’re certainly not complaining.
MBLAQ’s Lee Joon broke out of the idol star box in more ways than one this year, most notably as a promising figure in the variety world.
For better or worse, Lee Joon shed his glorified idol star image, revealing his much more human, shall we say, side. Who knew a nervous, stingy and clingy boyfriend type was hiding underneath those washboard abs?
Good thing he found a wife in Oh Yeon Seo who loves him just as he is.
LeeSsang’s Gary was one of the biggest breakthrough variety stars when he joined SBS’ Running Man in 2010, and although he hit a few speed bumps in 2012, the funnyman rapper proved unstoppable.
Gary saddened fans when he announced in September that he would be leaving the variety world in order to focus on managing LeeSsang Company after issues arose regarding a canceled concert, but he couldn’t stay away for long, as the LeeSsang member came running back a few weeks later.
And we’re glad he did because a variety world without Gary would be one sad place.
haha
How could we not include Haha in our list of class clowns? His name is Haha, for goodness’ sake.
From Running Man to Infinity Challenge, Haha cracked us up all year with his every move and word. And, of course, his man-crush on Yoo Jae Suk.
But the biggest punch line Haha delivered this year was the announcement that he would be marrying singer Byul, whom apparently no one knew he was even dating.
Haha definitely knows how to keep us on our toes, that’s for sure.
If the others on our list are the up-and-comers on the variety scene, Yoo Jae Suk is the seasoned pro sitting comfortably at the top.
They don’t call him the Nation’s MC for nothing, as Yoo Jae Suk is the face of many billboard variety shows, including Running Man, Infinity Challenge and Happy Together 3.
The fact that Yoo Jae Suk is simply an all-around good, generous guy (some even consider him a god) only serves to sell our case for him more.
