Director Pyo Min Soo of Iris 2 cleared up what netizens called a slip-up on the part of the producers.

Netizens criticized the drama for a scene in which the agents
were shown training in black suits against a snowy backdrop, when
soldiers and agents in training usually wear white to blend into the
background.
Director Pyo Min Soo commented, "I considered up until the morning of the shoot on whether I should have the actors wear white clothes, white hats and hold guns taped to look white, but I thought that would be too simple."
He added, "I thought it would be more natural to have the agents train in the clothes they usually wear. I judged the situation would be explained with Yu Geon (Jang Hyuk)′s dialogue, but following the criticisms I realized I should have explained the situation more."
