As we reported earlier after Kim Tae Hee and Rain’s
relationship was known to the public, Rain has been caught up in nasty
controversy regarding his military service. There are two issues being
brought up. The first is the fact that Rain was caught outside in his
military uniform but without his hat. The second is the fact that had
too many vacation days. Currently, debate is going on whether
celebrities are given too much of a “special status” for their military
service.
The Ministry of Defense revealed that up until now
Rain has used a total of 28 vacation days (Received as a reward) and was
authorized to leave his military base for 54 days. In 2011 Rain used 11
vacation days and in 2012 Rain used 17 vacation days.
The Ministry of Defense stated that Rain earned these vacation days
due to his various activities throughout his service. They also
explained that in 2012, for 25 days he was authorized to leave base in
order to record in a studio and practice dancing. Also, for 19 days he
was authorized to leave base in order to perform for the military.
Unfortunately, it appears as though this news was not enough to stop
the controversy regarding celebrities and their receiving special
treatment. Stay tuned to Soompi.com to hear more details!

As we continue to report,
Rain has recently been under fire for breaking two regulations
regarding individuals serving out their mandatory military service.
It looks as though within the next week Rain’s punishment will be decided. On January 3 a representative of the Ministry of Defense Kim Min Suk stated, “Rain left because he would be engaging in government affairs. On the way returning to base he seemed to have met somebody (Kim Tae Hee)
in a private way. This can be seen as breaking the rules. Next week a
council will be set up to judge what measures must be taken.”
But it seems that the punishment will not be severe for Rain. The
representative Kim Min Suk stated, “He probably will not be sent to the
brig. But, there will probably be punishment in terms of reduced number
of a vacation days and privileges to leave base.”
Looks like it is good news for Rain! Stay tuned for more updates!

They also praised Rain calling him a brilliant actor.
On new year’s day, the A-lister, currently in the army for his
military duty, surprised everyone with his romance with actress Kim Tae
Hee. He is to be discharged from the army on July 10, 2013.
Emcee Kang expressed his candid first impression about Andy
Wachowskis and made every laugh. Kang quipped: “Andy, it looks like that
you used to fight a lot, didn’t you?”
South Korean pop star Rain is facing questions after paparazzi photos showed him out on the town with a top actress.
Seoul's
Defense Ministry said Wednesday it is investigating whether Rain
broke military rules by meeting actress Kim Tae-hee while on duty.
Rain
is fulfilling his compulsory army service as an entertainer for the
military. He is not allowed to have private meetings while outside
his Seoul base for official duties such as recording and performing.
The ministry says a brief lockup in a military jail cannot be ruled out as a penalty.
Kim's agency admits that the two have dated for a month. Rain's agency neither denies nor confirms it.

Defence
officials in South Korea are investigating whether pop star Rain broke
military rules after photos of him meeting an actress surfaced.
A spokesman for the defence ministry said his army unit was "looking into the matter" following a public outcry.
The 30-year-old, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, is doing compulsory military service until this year.
Thousands had signed an online petition calling for an investigation into possible preferential treatment.
All able-bodied South Korean men are required to serve time in the military - a legacy of the 1950-53 Korean War.
The South is still technically at war with North Korea, as the conflict ended in a ceasefire and not a peace treaty.

In the past, artists have been known to try to avoid military duty, which has proved unpopular with the public.
Psy - known for his global hit Gangnam Style - was made to
repeat his military service after being accused of neglecting his
duties.
The report of Rain's apparent romance with popular South Korean actress Kim Tae-hee, 32, broke in local media on Tuesday.
Kim's representatives said in a statement that the two had been dating for a month.

On January 1, 2013, a report of dating rumor between actress Kim Tae Hee and singer Rain was reported on “Dispatch” along with a photo of them together.
On September 14, 2010, Kim Tae Hee has described her ideal type on KBS’s “Seung Seung Jang Gu.”
She stated, “I am not a very funny person, so I like guys that are
humorous. In terms of appearances, he just has to be pleasant looking.”
Kim Tae Hee also added, “Within four to five seconds, I can tell if I
am attracted to the person as a man, or like him just as a friend. The
distinction is very clear to me.”
Fans who remember her statement commented, “Does that sound like
Rain?” “Rain is indeed pleasant looking,” “Was that Rain she was
referring to?”
Meanwhile, Kim Tae Hee is planning to take the main role in the upcoming SBS drama, “Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love.” Rain began his mandatory military service in October 2011, and will be discharged on July 10, 2013.

In South Korea, any issue related to its mandatory military service will always become big. Rain and Kim Tae Hee’s
dating news has brought forth to the surface, another controversial
issue! Currently, there is a growing sense of unhappiness with
celebrities and their receiving special treatment while serving out
their mandatory military service. For now, the South Korean Ministry of Defense is making vague statements regarding the matter.
A representative of the Ministry of Defense was asked to comment
about Rain’s frequent vacations. The representative stated, “Currently
the things that are being reported are not 100% accurate. We are
currently investigating Rain’s military service.”
Another aspect that is creating controversy is the fact that Rain was
spotted without his military hat. When enlisted Koreans are on vacation
and wearing their uniforms they need to wear their hats and should not
walk around with their hands in their pockets. Regarding this matter the
representative stated, “It would be problematic if an enlisted
individual wore his uniform without his hat. But, any military member
might take off their hat on occasion. We are currently figuring out if
Rain has continuously been hatless or not.”
A South Korean senator has criticized the fact that celebrity’s
serving out their military service often have too many vacation days.
Rain has used 62 vacation days since his enlistment.

After Dispatch broke the news of a relationship between singer Rain and actress Kim Tae Hee, both agencies had remained silent about the issue.
However, earlier today, Kim Tae Hee’s agency finally confirmed that
the dating reports between the two celebrities were, in fact, true. “It is true that they have met, but at the present time they are
slowly beginning to know more about each other with good and positive
feelings,” the agency stated. “It has been about a month since their first meeting.”

It looks as though the Ministry of Defense has changed their stance regarding Rain and allegations that he is receiving special treatment during his military service.
We reported earlier that the South Korean Ministry of Defense had
made cautious statements regarding the issue. They stated that they
would “investigate” but had also said that the “things being reported
are not 100% accurate.”
However, now the tone of their public statements is becoming more
active. A representative of Communications for the Ministry of Defense
stated, “Due to the amount of criticism regarding Rain’s vacations and
breaking rules we are conducting investigations into the matter. We will
release the information found through the investigation as fast as
possible.”
After news broke out on January 1 regarding the fact that Kim Tae Hee
and Rain have been dating, issues have been raised about Rain’s special
treatment during his military service. He has taken many vacations,
wore his uniform in public without a hat, and bought a separate cell
phone he has used to contact Kim Tae Hee.
There are various opinions on how bad his punishment might be. The
representative stated, “We will check precedent in order to determine
what the punishment should be. It’s not like there is a set punishment
for every kind of rule that has been broken. It is difficult to
determine the level of punishment as of yet.”
Right now, critics of Rain’s special treatment are stating that
celebrities should not receive any special treatment during their
military service at all.
A representative of the Ministry of Defense stated, “We are paying
attention to the critics of celebrities receiving special treatment in
the military. We plan on reviewing whether improvements can be made.”

In 2011, actress Kim Tae Hee played the role of Lee Seol, an average college student who suddenly becomes a princess in MBC’s “My Princess.”
In this drama, Lee Seol makes a list of ideal tutors she would like to have. To learn the subject of economy, she asks for Steven Jobs, while for English, she wants singer John Park. To learn Japanese, she wants Odagiri Joe, and for the subjects of music, art, and horseback riding, she asks for BEAST, SHINee, and Kim Nam Gil, respectively.
Finally, to learn choreography, Lee Seol asks for Rain as the teacher.
This scene from “My Princess” began to receive a lot of attention recently as the dating rumor between Kim Tae Hee and Rain was reported on January 1, 2013, by “Dispatch.”
It seems fans aren’t the only ones interested in Kim Tae Hee and Rain‘s
relationship for military officials are now taking a look into Rain’s
time away during his service with the recent outbreak of the news about
the star couple.
Earlier reports stated that Rain and Kim Tae Hee had seen each other fairly often, which was made possible due to Rain’s frequent time off.
Rain apparently left 25 times during the past year for official
duties as he had been granted leave due to recordings and choreography
rehearsals as part of Rain’s performances for military events. In
addition to the other types of leave that had been granted to him, he
has left the base a total of 60 times this past year.
So questions have arose asking if the singer had used some of these
days that he was granted leave for his duties, including rehearsing for
military events, for personal time to meet with Kim Tae Hee instead.
With questions rising, military officials are currently investigating into the matter.

Korean pop star Rain and actress Kim Tae-hee have been dating
for the past three months despite the singer being at the barracks for
mandatory military service, local media said Tuesday.
According
to online media outlet Dispatch, Rain and Kim started dating last
September, months after they first met on the set of a Coupang
commercial in October 2011. They met every time Rain was on leave.
Dispatch said they met every week in the month of December. They
reportedly used their cars for dates or stayed in at one of their houses
instead of going out in public.
The news outlet quoted an
acquaintance of Kim as saying that the actress, often referred to as one
of the most beautiful faces in Korea, was drawn to the manliness of the
singer, who texted and phoned her regularly and visited her as much as
he could to win her heart.
Rain’s agents said they do not know about the love life of their clients. Kim’s agency has yet to answer press inquiries.
Kim
is to star in the upcoming SBS TV drama, “Jang Ok-jeong,” in March.
Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, is to be discharged on July 10.
The Poll has ended on which Kpop Fandom will take in Top #5, Rain's Clouds finished with #2. MBLAQ was also included in the Poll they finished 7th place. A+ we will get them next time.
After Rain and Kim Tae Hee were revealed to be a couple, many people have become curious about how they first came to know each other and fall in love.
The two first met in October of 2011, when they were both filming an advertisement for ‘Coupang‘. After they became friends, Rain went on the offensive. “Rain is the kind of person that is very forward with his feelings,” a confidant said. “Even after his entrance into the army, he won her over with frequent talks and conversations.”
After Dispatchbroke the news that Rain and Kim Tae Hee were dating, their agencies had little to say about the matter, simply denying any involvement or knowledge. “We haven’t heard anything about this,” both sides responded, apparently deciding that it was wiser to say as little as possible for the time being.

According to a new article from Dispatch, Rain and Kim Tae Hee are dating!
The couple have been dating for 3 months. Even after Rain enlisted in
March, the pair kept in frequent contact, and started to officially
date in September. Rain had actively asked her out to go and what began
as friends, has now apparently blossomed into a loving relationship.
They met at least once a week, and usually met on Sunday’s. Rain
would drive Kim Tae Hee’s car and drive her home, and then take a taxi
back to his house.
The couple also spent Christmas together because Rain had a break from the army. A representative from the army said, “Celebrity recruits have many breaks. They can get many breaks. Rain has radio, so he has been allowed to go out often.”
Lana Wachowski: “Working with Rain was a dream. He was a… he’s a physical genius. He’s like Mozart, the way Mozart could hear one thing and play it. You show him one dance move or one Kung Fu move, he can do it instantly. I mean, he was so talented, and so sweet, such a generous, beautiful person.”
Andy Wachowski: “Yeah, we hope that he gets out of the Army soon so that we can work with him again.”
Lana Wachowski (tongue in cheek, sort of): “Yeah. Why does he have to go to the Army? Forget the Army! Let’s get rid of it!” (laughs)
Somebody: “Uh-oh!” (laughs) ^@@^

For world-famous movie-making team the Wachowskis, shooting their recent science fiction film was like a game.
Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski known for their worldwide hit trilogy “The Matrix” came to Korea Thursday for the first time with German director Tom Tykwer and English actor Jim Sturgess to promote their new film “Cloud Atlas.” Korean actress Bae Doo-na, who stars in the film as one of the six main characters, also attended Thursday the press conference with them.
“We were actually going to cancel the press conference so that we can get out and see this beautiful city,” said Andy jokingly during the press conference held Thursday in Seoul.
Their new drama and science fiction film, written and directed in collaboration with Tykwer, was adapted from the 2004 novel “Cloud Atlas” by David Mitchell. World-famous movie stars appear in the film including Hugh Grant, Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Ben Whishaw.
The film explores how the actions of individuals affect others throughout the past, present and future. Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is transformed from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future. Each member of the ensemble appears in multiple roles as the stories move through time.
“It was quite easy (for me to make the film), because the book was wonderfully constructed. We had a lot of fun finding all the connections. It was a process that continued all the way through the creation of the film, even in editing. Even after watching the film, we still found a connection we hadn’t made. It was like a game,” said Andy.
During the conference, Lana, who described her wife as a big fan of Korean food, said she first got to know Bae when she watched “Take Care of My Cat” (2001).
“I kept watching her films (after I watched ‘Take Care of My Cat.’ I watched almost all her movies,” Lana said.
The director spoke highly of the Korean actress Bae for her superb portrayal of the role Sonmi-451, a genetically-engineered clone. The director said that Bae is capable of expressing “pure emotional vulnerability” and underneath this there is “toughness and strength that lead to a revolution” an effect similar to that caused by Sonmi-451 in the film.
Lana also expressed a positive view about the Korean film industry, actors and actresses. She also shared the desire to make a film in Seoul.
“We think the Korean film industry is very exciting. There are many great films being made out of here,” Lana said. “We want to make a movie in Seoul so if you have a good book or good ideas, send them to us,” said Lana. She previously worked with Korean singer Rain for “Ninja Assassin” (2009) and said working with him was like a “dream.” She described him a “physical genius like Mozart,” adding that when he asks him to perform something, he does it instantly.
Andy Wachowski, 44, teamed up with his older sibling Lana Wachowski, 47, and began working on films. Their first script was optioned, and formed the basis for the film “Assassins” (1995). The Wachowski’s went on to make their directorial debut with the self-written “Bound” (1996), which was well received. They followed this with the smash-hit “The Matrix” (1999) and went on to produce two successful sequels, “The Matrix Reloaded” (2003) and “The Matrix Revolutions” (2003).
Other projects include scripting and producing the cult hit “V for Vendetta” (2005), a live action version of a Japanese anime series, “Speed Racer” (2008) and the ambitious epic “Cloud Atlas” (2012).
“Cloud Atlas” will be released on Jan. 10, 2013 in theaters nationwide. Rated 18 and over. Runs for 172 minutes. Distributed by NEW.
The court recently ruled that JYP Entertainment, Rain’s former agency, is responsible for not fulfilling their contractual obligations regarding Rain’s fifth EP.
On November 11, the Seoul High Court ruled that JYP Entertainment has to pay 50 million won to an undisclosed contents company.
JYP was supposed to have copyright and concert ticket rights while the undisclosed company was supposed to receive DVD and tour product rights and the two companies planned to split the proceeds.
The court, however, ruled, “Since JYP didn’t fulfill their contractual obligations, the undisclosed company is undergoing hardships. As a result, JYP has been ordered to pay 50 million won in compensation.”
The undisclosed company was established to provide content business for Rain’s fifth EP showcase, which was released in 2008. They signed a contract with JYP in October of the same year.
Does Rain belong here? Tough question, but he was enjoying idol-like fame at the time of his enlistment last October, so we decided to include him. His outstanding shooting and training results have been well-publicized and he’s being reported as one of the best-trained soldiers. It’s already been a year since his enlistment so just wait a little over 10 months, all you Rain fans!
