130105 [NEWS] Mir faces an emergency situation on ‘Laws of the Jungle’

Mir suffered an emergency situation on the January 4th installment of ‘Laws of the Jungle‘.

In the episode, Mir had gone ahead with Kim Byung Man to check the depth of the river. However, he was sent back by himself, and ended up being stranded in the river that suddenly grew deep. He couldn’t swim forward because of the rapid current.

Even though Chu Sung Hoon dove into the water in an attempt at a rescue, he couldn’t reach Mir because of the severely changing depth and the current. In the end, a boat that had been waiting nearby for safety precautions had to come and rescue Mir.

When Mir came back, he said, “I was in the wrong. I got too careless. When I was going there, the water only went to my knees. I thought it would be the same situation on the way back, but the water went above my height. I know how to swim, but none of that worked. I realized how scary the jungle was“, and shed some tears.

Netizens commented, “He must have been so scared. How does the water increase so much in just 5 minutes?“, “I’m so glad he’s safe. He must have been so scared, he started crying when his adrenaline was gone.“, and “When you’re in the water, all you can think about is coming out alive. Your body doesn’t move like you want it to… Mir must have been really scared“.

121229 [NEWS] MBLAQ’s Mir left facing a dangerous situation on the first episode of ‘Laws of the Jungle 3′

As fans of MBLAQ know, Mir was recruited for the latest season of ‘Laws of the Jungle‘ to test his skills as he faces the experiences of living without the comforts that we’ve come to expect.

The new season that began with its pilot episode that aired on the 28th showed the cast members coming together to make their journey to the Amazon.

Mir impressed viewers as he took a very active part in the journey, becoming Kim Byung Man, their leader’s, right hand man at times, assisting him with various projects. However, at the end of the episode, Mir was swept up in a very dangerous situation that had the cast members panicking and the viewers glued to their seats.

In attempts at crossing the Amazon river, the Kim Byung Man tribe had set out to build themselves a raft-like structure that would help carry them across. As they crossed the river, Kim Byung Man and Mir came to the realization that the portion of the river they were crossing, was not deep at all, a level they could easily walk through.

To relay Kim Byung Man’s message to the others waiting on shore, Mir wandered back a little as Kim Byung Man went on with the raft to call out to the other members. However, the water level suddenly rose and Mir, who had been standing in the water, found himself immersed in all the way up to his head and without the rope he had been holding on to previously for safety.

The episode came to an end with a preview of what it to come, showing Mir shedding tears as he remarked, “I’ve realized the dangers of the Jungle.”

Stay tuned for next week’s episode to see how Mir was able to escape the situation with the help of the other members.

121219 [NEWS] Park Shin Hye and MBLAQ’s Mir do their version of ‘cutie player’

As you all know there is a new aegyo trend going around in Korea called ‘guiyomi player’ or ‘cutie player’, which was popularized by ‘Weekly Idol‘ with BTOB‘s Ilhoon being the first to demonstrate it on the show. Although it’s cute, well, it doesn’t really make any sense as with mostaegyo trends, and actress Park Shin Hye definitely took notice.

‘Cutie player’ involves the individual reciting, “1+1 is guiyomi (cutie), 2+2 is guiyomi, 3+3 is guiyomi…”and so on, while accompanying their words with cute gestures. Park Shin Hye also joined in on the trend by performing her version on the latest episode of ‘Strong Heart‘, and was followed by MBLAQ Mir who showcased his aegyo as well.

The actress, who seems to have been quite embarrassed watching herself perform it on broadcast, later pointed out the aegyo’s senseless words as she commented on her twitter, “That’s right. 1+1 is not guiyomi, it’s 2. Come on. I’m a woman who knows how to add,” along with a picture of herself with her co-star of ‘Flower Boy Next Door‘, Kim Ji Hoon, and bringing a lot of laughter to fans.

121212 [NEWS] [Recap: The Romantic & Idol] 5th Date - “When we were together, I felt like he was thinking about someone else”

It’s Day Three on Jeju Island, where eight idol stars have been whisked away for a romantic getaway, and in the wake of Nam Ji Hyun and Hyung Sik’s meant-to-be moment from the previous episode, it’s time to find out whom the remaining idols will link up with during the clothing shuffle.

(If you missed the first few episodes, have no fear because we have you covered with recaps!)

Before the reveal, we’re given a little more insight into the girls’ feelings about the boys and a few hints about which shirt belongs to who.

“I went to the department store myself and picked it. It’s just neat. I like simple things,” says Seung Ah when describing the shirt she picked before adding of her hopes to be matched up with JB, “Still, I want to meet [with JB] at least one more time.”

“I want it to be one of the two people I’ve been thinking about,” says Jei referring to her previous partners Jun.K and JB when asked who she hopes picked her shirt.

Interestingly enough, however, Jei also says with a laugh, “[I noticed] Mir really likes comfortable things. Yesterday on the bus too, he kept trying to sleep. I do have thoughts of ‘No, really?’”

Uh oh. Does this mean… All we’re saying is that starchy denim button-ups, which Jun.K and JB each snatched up, don’t necessarily scream comfort. But that hoodie Mir picked sure does…

When the staff member asks, “Would you prefer that Mir didn’t pick yours?” Jei answers with a sheepish laugh, “Yes.”

If only she was that sure about her feelings for Jun.K and JB.

“I was going to pick something loud, but then I thought it might be nice [for the guy] to look neat and smart,” says Hyejeong. “Everyone was saying Hyung Sik oppa would look good in it. I think if he wore it, he’d look cool.”

Is Hyejeong jumping ship?

Meanwhile, when asked how she’d feel if Hyung Sik is paired with another girl, Nam Ji Hyun says, “I don’t think I’d feel good about it.”

We’re then given a refresher on the boys’ picks before we return to the lawn, where the girls are waiting for the boys to make their grand entrance.

But from last week’s episode, we know that Nam Ji Hyun doesn’t have to worry about seeing Hyung Sik with another girl as the two found each other back in each other’s arms after the clothing shuffle.

Destiny? At this point, we’re going to assume that even gravity can’t keep these two apart.

But how do Hyung Sik and Nam Ji Hyun explain it? They can’t. Really. They tried.

“The inexplicable happened,” says Hyung Sik. “I’ve come to accept it. There’s no way…I didn’t think we’d meet for the third time.”

Nam Ji Hyun says, “But seriously…this…no, never mind.”

Okay, let’s try this again one more time.

“The more we meet, and because I don’t feel like we’re not a good match, that’s the problem,” adds Ji Hyun.

Um, destiny it is...

We’re back on the lawn as frantic violin playing causes our hearts to race, signaling that another boy is about to make his grand entrance.

After dillydallying, the next boy pops out of the guest house and it’s none other than JB in his denim shirt.

Seung Ah asks, “Whose do you think it is?” to which JB answers, “I don’t know whose mine is.”

“It looks good on you,” says Seung Ah and Jei adds, “I think everyone found what looks best on them.”

Seung Ah then jumps up and says, “Let’s go. It’s nuna” as she walks towards JB, who drops his head. Someone needs to work on his poker face.

“It seemed like JB didn’t like it,” says Seung Ah in her private interview of the moment. “It was chaos. Still, I think I would’ve met with JB. I thought, ‘Our meeting couldn’t be helped.’”

The couple takes off, and upon running into Hyung Sik and Ji Hyun, Seung Ah notes with an air of excitement that she and JB are also a “first meeting” couple, having been matched up on their first date, before adding, “It’s so weird.”

Although JB was unable to hide his disappointment at the turn of events, he and Seung Ah, at least, look like a cute couple in their matching denim jackets. Wait a minute… Jei is wearing a hoodie… Minor detail or major coincidence? Oh, how desperately we hope it’s the latter. For Jei’s sake.

We’re then taken into the boys’ room, where Jun.K asks Mir whether he’s going to stick with Nam Ji Hyun or go to Hyejeong if he goes on a date with Hyejeong this round.

“I have to do it first,” says Mir. “If…I have no idea.”

And again, we’re reminded that we have to take things minute-by-minute with the boys. Sigh.

Jun.K and Mir are then told to come out together, and the remaining girls, Jei and Hyejeong, see who’s wearing their shirts.

The boys come out of the guesthouse looking like lost sheep as the girls play it cool, knowing now who their partners are.

Jun.K says he has no idea whose shirt he’s wearing, while Mir says, “Our guess is that this is Hyejeong’s” while pointing to his hoodie.

Hyejeong and Jei walk up to the boys and then Jun.K seems to have picked up on something as he glances at the girls and says “Ah, okay, okay.”

Still, the girls milk the fact that only they know who’s wearing their shirts for a few seconds longer and the boys stand around nervously, leading Jun.K to ask, “Wait, are you both Mir?”

Hyejeong finally puts an end to the boys’ misery, saying, “Huh? No, this is you,” before grabbing Jun.K’s arm with a laugh.

And we’re thrown another curveball as the one thing Jei hoped wouldn’t happen has happened. Another boy is thrown into Jei’s world.

But we’ll worry about that later as there are dates to be had, and we pan over to Jun.K and Hyejeong, the other denim jacket couple, who have wasted no time and are singing Gangnam Style at the top of their lungs.

The only thing that can distract them from doing the horse dance is, of course, the smell of food, and before we know it, Jun.K and Hyejeong are whipping up bibimbap for each other inside a restaurant.

Meanwhile, the mood is completely different over in Hyung Sik and Ji Hyun’s car (sorry if we seem a little off - it’s because we’re still recovering from the whiplash), where they are talking about how they think the show will turn out.

The conversation then turns to food (okay, we guess it’s not that different), as Ji Hyun talks about her signature rice pizza dish.

“It’s good,” says Ji Hyun. “I thought, ‘If the opportunity arises, I should make it for you,” to which Hyung Sik responds, “Make it for me.”

The two seem much more comfortable with one another at this point, and when Mr. Confident Hyung Sik, who has his arm slung over the seat, asks the cameraman, “Don’t we get along really well?” the cameraman responds, “You [two] seem like real lovers,” to which Hyung Sik says, “Well, I mean, now…”

Hyung Sik and Ji Hyun then take off on an exciting motorboat date, while we’re sitting at home wishing it were summer again.

“When Jei nuna came out, I was really happy,” says Mir. “As you know, she has the face that I prefer.”

Over in Jei and Mir’s car, however, the two have not said one word to each other.

If you didn’t believe in the power of music to heal awkward silences before, this scene will surely convince you.

Why so awkward, Mir?

“I was literally sweating,” says Mir. “With Seung Ah nuna I talked about everything, but with Jei nuna, I talked really carefully. I thought I was going to go crazy.”

We’ve never seen this side of Mir, and neither has Mir, apparently.

“If the four girls I’ve dated thus far see this, they might hit me,” adds Mir. “This is seriously the first time [I’ve acted like this].”

We pan back to the car, where Mir’s face is frozen in time. Then he finally breaks the silence by trying to make conversation…about the car speed.

During his private interview, Mir reveals, “When I was in the car with Seung Ah nuna, I would yell, ‘Woohoo, faster!’ drive over curbs and blast music, but today with Jei nuna, I would hit the break if I went over the speed limit even the slightest and even then I would press the break lightly with my toe.”

And Jei officially has Mir sprung. Ji Hyun, who? But the best part? Jei has done absolutely nothing. That’s the power of women for you.

Back in the car, Mir asks Jei why she’s still speaking formally to him, and when Jei asks if they want to start speaking informally to one another, Mir says that he can’t speak down to people who are older than him.

Are you sure about that, Mir?

We then cut to Mir yelling, “Ya!” or “You!” in Korean to Seung Ah. Thank you, PDs. Read our minds.

After hearing about what was running through Mir’s mind on the date, Jei finally reveals her first impression of the date in her private interview, saying “With Jun.K oppa, I was able to go on a romantic date, and even with JB, it felt like a date,” says Jei. “But with Mir, it still feels like I’m with my younger brother.”

But before we can even entertain the idea that this date is headed downhill, we cut to Jei’s interview later that night, where she says, “I think, of the three, this date was the most interesting and fun. Right now, I think [in terms of] the probability, Mir is higher.”

Wait. WHAT?!

Okay, rewind. Did we miss something?!

We’re on a boat now with the couple, and as far as we can tell, the two haven’t made great strides since the last scene. Mir and Jei even admit that the boat ride, although it was fun at first, is boring now. Then the couple hears the staff members making a ruckus on the other side of the boat, and Mir and Jei head over to see what all of the fuss is about.

And the date is saved…by a bunch of dolphins.

Dolphins are cute, but we’re not convinced that’s the reason behind Jei’s change apparent change of heart.

Meanwhile, in JB and Seung Ah’s car, JB can’t seem to get over the fact that he’s been paired with Seung Ah.

“How did we wind up together again?” wonders JB out loud, and Seung Ah says, “It’s weird. I didn’t even imagine [we’d wind up together].“

But JB makes it clear that his apparent shock at the turn of events is an expression of disappointment, not excitement, because he can’t stop talking about Jei, while Seung Ah says she’s glad that she hasn’t been paired with Mir and that Jei’s personality will have changed by the end of her date with Mir.

We thought Mir and Jei’s car ride was awkward, but little did we know what JB and Seung Ah’s car ride had in store for us.

“You really never imagined it’d be me?” asks Seung Ah.

“You were the ultimate [shock]. When you chose me during the halftime selection,” says JB.

Okay, it wasn’t that shocking JB.

“Oh, and Jei nuna. Jei nuna was the ultimate,” adds JB. “I thought Jei nuna would pick me.”

Then the date just keeps taking a turn for the worse every minute with every word JB says.

“Why didn’t Jei nuna pick me?”

“I think I’m going to have to talk to Jei nuna.”

“Right, right, right,” says Seung Ah.

Awk…ward.

The couple isn’t even on the actual date yet, but it’s doomed.

Where are the dolphins when you need them?

“Jei nuna…Ah, she’s a nuna I can’t read,” says JB.

Seriously, bring back the dolphins. Please.

The conversation doesn’t appear to be going anywhere else at this point, and Seung Ah gives in, asking, “So what did you and Jei talk about when you were with her?”

Meanwhile, JB can’t read the situation for what it is, and continues on about Jei.

“I don’t know if it’s because of the halftime selection, but I felt a little sorry for no reason. [I thought] JB and Jei needed to go out. I don’t know, it was a little unclear,” says Seung Ah. “If you look at it one way, I was hurt because I mean, still, we went on a date together before.”

Awkward conversation ensues in JB and Seung Ah’s car before we cut to a scene from later that night, when the idols are apparently given time to talk honestly with one another in private.

JB stumbles over his thoughts as he says to Seung Ah, “I called you in because…what I wanted to say is, um…to be honest, what do you think of me?”

“I think that I want things to work out,” says Seung Ah.

“To me, you’re a good nuna. I’m just really sorry. Because I know you have good thoughts, but I’m sorry,” says JB.

“Okay, I get it,” says Seung Ah as she gets up, and JB puts his hand awkwardly on her shoulder.

Seung Ah, who is much better at reading situations for what they are, tries to play it cool and says, “Oh no, not at all, it’s not like that at all.”

We can’t help but feel bad for Seung Ah, who seems to really be putting herself out there for JB despite picking up on his true feelings.

So we assume the rest of JB and Seung Ah’s date doesn’t get any better, and our attention turns to Jun.K and Hyejeong, who are deeply engrossed in each other’s hands.

Cue the daksal.

Jun.K and Hyejeong then each take turns asking each other three questions, all while recording each other’s answers. Because it’s not like their date isn’t being recorded for the world to see.

“What’s your ideal type?” asks Jun.K.

“Someone who loves me, someone with a sense of humor, someone innocent,” says Hyejeong.

“That’s basically me,” says Jun.K.

But the daksal doesn’t end there as the two begin feeding each other spoonfuls of patbingsu. But we barely notice because we’re drooling over the big bowl of patbingsu.

Jun.K then receives a message regarding the couple’s next mission, which is for the boy to give the girl a back hug. And it’s Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won from Secret Garden to the rescue to show the couples how it’s done.

Jun.K and Hyejeong can’t hide their embarrassment as we switch over to Hyung Sik and Ji Hyun who are watching the same clip with embarrassed smiles.

Hyung Sik and Ji Hyun accept the mission and walk off, as Hyung Sik grabs Ji Hyun’s arm.

“You keep [trying to] do skinship like this,” says Ji Hyun, and Hyung Sik responds, “No, this is me taking care of you.”

The couple continues on its romantic date, taking a stroll through the field of grass, hand-in-hand.

“Should we do the mission now?” asks Hyung Sik?

Way to make the mission feel like a mission, Hyung Sik.

Ji Hyun, who has already pulled her hair out of the way, is all set to go.

Hyung Sik places his hand behind her back, and we can totally see his mind racing as he tries to figure out how to ease into the back hug until he finally gives up and says with a laugh, “What do I do!”

The two share an awkward laugh and decide to walk it off. Cue some background music to make the moment less awkward, and soon enough, we see Hyung Sik come up behind Ji Hyun as Ji Hyun tenses up. And the music cuts—it’s literally silent, dead air—as the scene of the couple slipping into the back hug rolls in slow motion. Success!

Mir and Jei receive the same mission, and Mir turns bright red while watching the clip.

This couple treats the back hug like a mission as well, planning how they will accomplish it.

“If I had been with Seung Ah nuna or Hyejeong for this mission, I would’ve just been like ‘Let’s just do it now,’ but I hesitated [with Jei],” says Mir.

The two exchange “This is my first time doing this” comments before the camera pans to their feet and the couple takes off on the mission.

Mir and Jei stroll down a small bridge, and Jei appears surprisingly at ease, even placing her hands on Mir’s arms. All the while, Mir is smiling widely.

“I thought it was really romantic,” says Mir during his interview, unable to look directly at the camera.

During her interview, Jei immediately breaks into a laugh thinking about the mission before saying, “If we had been more comfortable with each other, I wouldn’t have been nervous at all, but it was kind of awkward.”

Well, we couldn’t tell.

“Because there was that, I think [that] made my heart flutter,” adds Jei.

And Mir is officially out of “younger brother” territory.

We’re back in the car with Mir and Jei, where Mir plays her a song he composed, and Jei says she didn’t expect him to have this side to him.

The two go to a museum, where Mir appears to have warmed up to Jei a little more, even saying “Nuna, take care of me,” and Jei offers him her hand, which he, of course, takes gladly.

“Hyejeong was a dongseng and Seung Ah nuna felt too much like a nuna,” reveals Mir in his interview. “That’s why I always said I wanted to taste feeling nervous, and I felt that today. That’s why I’m going crazy.”

“I don’t think I can’t watch this when it airs,” adds Mir as the staff members break into laughter.

“We started holding hands and kept walking around like that,” says Jei. “That was a big moment for me.”

“I can’t throw my interview from this morning away from my memory,” says Jei. “But really, I’m a little weird right now, and I feel like I’m being carried along somewhere.”

The clip of Jei saying she hopes Mir doesn’t pick her shirt rolls back, and Jei says, “I can’t guarantee anything anymore. Now I’m really afraid of my own mouth.”

“My family members—my mother, father and nuna—always say if they were girls, not family, and they met me, they would never date me. My family says this to me all the time. Even my grandmother—she says, ‘If I were young, 22 years old, I would never date you,” says Mir. “That’s how it is. But if my family members see this, they’re going to be shocked. This program made me crazy.”

Meanwhile, the Denim Daksal couple is back in the car, where Jun.K pulls out all of the daksal stops from Jun.K helping Hyejeong put her seatbelt on to Jun.K hinting that his “shoulder hurts” and reaching over to recline her seat and telling her to sleep when she says she’s tired.

Jun.K has seen one too many Korean dramas, but Hyejeong seems to be taking it all in.

The couple takes off on their horseback riding date, and it’s time for the two to complete the back hug mission.

Although Hyejeong can’t hide her embarrassment at first, Jun.K and Hyejeong get bold and even film the back hug moment themselves.

The two complete the mission successfully, but during their respective interviews Jun.K and Hyejeong express their embarrassment recalling the moment.

“So there’s a good kind of feeling embarrassed and then there’s feeling embarrassed because it’s actually embarrassing,” says Jun.K causing the staff members to laugh. “You know what I mean, right? It was embarrassing because it was actually embarrassing. That’s why I’m not sure about Hyejeong’s heart.”

Back in Huung Sik and Ji Hyun’s car, the two are talking about how they’ve spent so much time together (and want to spend more time together) before hopping on a boat and taking photos together.

It’s a completely different story with the JB and Seung Ah couple, as JB literally makes a beeline upon receiving the back hug mission.

Seung Ah tries to play it off, telling JB “Don’t feel burdened by it. Just forget it.”

“I couldn’t do it,” says JB. “I already felt bad, and doing it [the back hug] seemed weird, I couldn’t do it. She’s not the one inside my heart, so doing a mission like that was a little…I couldn’t do it.”

Seung Ah leaves the decision up to JB, saying they can do it or not do it.

JB ultimately opts out of the mission, saying “Let’s give up on hugging.”

“It’s okay. Just forget about it,” says Seung Ah, trying to keep her cool in front of him.

JB explains why he decided to give up on the mission, saying, “To be honest, I’m really sorry to Seung Ah nuna, but I could only think about Jei nuna. I’m really worried about Jei nuna. But there’s nothing I can do about it because there’s only one person on my mind.”

Meanwhile, Seung Ah says in her interview, “When I was JB, even though we were together, I felt like he was thinking about someone else. When we were together, I felt lonely for some reason.”

Unable to hold back tears, Seung Ah continues, “So it was really cold yesterday, honestly. I was hurt seeing him not pay any attention to me. And I think every little thing turned into something hurtful.”

Thoughts:

So back hugs were the couples′ mission this week, but not everyone was feeling the warmth.

It′s not just fun and games on the island anymore, as idol can′t deny their true feelings for one another, causing some to get hurt in the process.

Still, we′re suprised by how much the idols have let their guards down in the last few days (remember they′re only on the island for three nights, four days).

Seung Ah, in particular, has been shafted into "nice nuna" territory, a point Mir and JB continue to drive home, and it′s clearly getting to her.

Meanwhile, Jei strikes again, but this time, it′s Mir who gets caught in her web.

We didn′t expect the tide to change so late in the game, but we′re definitely interested to see what comes of these sharp turns.

Here′s what′s ahead in the next episode!

121204 [NEWS] [Recap: The Romantic & Idol] 4th Date - “Boys’ hearts change from moment to moment”

Last week’s episode ended with a major cliffhanger, and although, at the time, we didn’t think we could make it through a whole week, we made it—although our hearts are still hurting from the turn of events on this week’s episode.

Read on for all of the juicy details in our latest recap!

Before the big reveal of the remaining idol stars’ secret camera picks, we’re taken back to Jun.K and Hyejeong’s seaside date, where the AOA member notices a piano perched ever so conveniently on the rooftop (where else?) and asks Jun.K if he knows how to play.

Of course he does, and before we know it, it’s Jun.K to the rescue as he wraps his coat around Hyejeong’s legs to prevent any potential wardrobe malfunctions on her climb up.

Jun.K struggles a little to figure out the best way to complete the task at hand, but he’s definitely determined to get it right.

They finally make it to the rooftop, where Jun.K serenades Hyejeong with Yoo Jae Ha’s Because I Love You (*Adds song to ‘Potential Wedding Songs’ playlist*) as she captures it all on camera and roll the lovey dovey scenes from the couple’s date up to this point.

Then we skip to the couple in the car as Jun.K attempts to bring to life every girl’s dream scene of seeing her boyfriend…park in reverse (We’re so easy to please, aren’t we, ladies?).

Meanwhile, Jun.K, well aware of what this scene means to women everywhere, says to Hyejeong, who is recording all of this, “Filming isn’t important right now. You have to watch.”

Although we’d rather he let his actions speak for itself in this moment, the romantic dream lives on as Jun.K backs the car up effortlessly…into the wrong parking spot. Aaaand, we’re back to reality.

Before we can be too disappointed by the fail, however, we cut to 4minute’s Nam Ji Hyun and ZE:A’s Hyung Sik in the car, where she reveals the song she had hoped to hear during the music shuffle, Yurisangja’s A Blue Night on Jeju Island.

Cue the song and scenes of the other couples smiling and enjoying themselves on their respective dates.

Then we cut to scenes of the idol stars filming their secret camera picks, and we’re reminded that there is still unfinished business, aka the halftime selections, to attend to.

Back in the girls’ room on the night of the halftime selection, Jei and Hyejeong, who have both been on dates with Jun.K open up to each other about their feelings…for the same guy. Such situations may be awkward in real life, maybe, but on reality TV, anything flies.

Jei says, “I really can’t tell with Jun.K oppa,” to which Hyejeong responds, “Nice…Everyone is so nice, and I don’t like that.”

Jei says, “That’s why JB worries me too.”

“I really like him,” continues Hyejeong, presumably referring to Jun.K. “Because oppa does so much. Like he knows all of these romantic things.”

“That’s why [his feelings for me] don’t seem sincere,” says Jei.

It, of course, doesn’t help when Hyejeong says, “But he’s really romantic, and it was really nice. I felt like I was on a date with my boyfriend. I think in that way I think Jun.K oppa is really good.”

That’s the way to go, Hyejeong, confuse the competition even more.

She adds salt to the wound by adding, “He’s great at leading, he knows the mood, but the problem is that because he knows my heart is leaning that way, he’s a little too fast and too much.”

Jei then says, “That’s why there’s also something about feeling rushed and feeling like we’re going to get close really quickly.”

“I’m really curious about the boys,” says Jei.

Aren’t we all, Jei, aren’t we all.

But, of course, the boys are in la la land, literally, sleeping like babies without a care in the world in the next room.

Since the boys won’t make for much conversation, we return to the girls’ room, where Nam Ji Hyun has joined the others and says, “I’m really curious about JB,” while Jei says, “I’m also curious about Mir.”

Hyejeong then jumps in and says, “They asked me who I thought Mir would pick, and I said I thought it’d be Ji Hyununnie.”

Then Jei adds, “He would be cute as a younger brother…or would he be a headache?” As the word “destiny” rings in our ears, we’re going to have to go with the latter in this moment.

Hyejeong seems to agree as she says, “Yes, my head hurts.”

Nam Ji Hyun is also on the same wavelength, saying “If it’s not a deep relationship, it’s a good relationship. I think if it were a deep relationship, my head would hurt.” Ouch (no pun intended).

The 4minute member then turns the topic back to JB and says she thinks he picked Jei because they had a fun date to which Jei says they did enjoy a “date-like date” (…whatever that means) before adding “After all of this, if everything gets tangled up, it’s going to be a headache.”

We’re bracing ourselves too, Jei.

Over in the boys’ room, one-by-one, the boys begin to wake up from their beauty sleep. After we say a quick hello to JB’s crazy bed head, Hyung Sik’s stylist comes in to get the idol star camera ready and asks who Hyung Sik was paired with on his latest date.

The stylist is surprised to learn that Hyung Sik’s partner was, once again, Nam Ji Hyun, and Hyung Sik says, “It’s destiny.”

Great, now Hyung Sik is hung up on this whole ‘destiny’ thing, but hey, at least, his reasons are more legitimate.

As the halftime selection looms ahead, the idol stars gather around the dinner table to eat ramen (The Last Supper?), and Jun.K is the ever caring oppa and hyung to everyone, making sure all of the idols are well fed.

The idols share a few laughs, but the conversation quickly turns to the impending halftime selection, and they agree to not be scornful of one another no matter the outcome.

Seung Ah’s and JB’s respective picks, JB and Jei, which were revealed last week, are played back, once again reminding us that the couple from the first episode is no more.

However, in this episode, we learn why JB didn’t choose Seung Ah, as Mir says in his private interview that JB told him, “Seung Ah was a great nuna, but before I could see her as a woman, she met you and showed too much of her real self, cementing her as just a ‘good nuna’”

JB echoes the sentiment in his own private interview as well, saying, “To be honest, “After being coupled with Mir hyung, I began to see the real [Seung Ah], and Mir hyung poured cement on the sides that could’ve made her appealing as a woman, forever cementing her as a ‘nice nuna. ’”

But on to the moment we’ve waited an entire week for: Jei’s pick.

“Up until daytime, it was half and half…I made my decision at night,” says Jei.

When asked during his interview who he thought Jei picked, JB, Jei’s most recent partner, said “If not me, probably Jun.K hyung?”

The others say who they think Jei picked, but we’re tired of speculating this point and just want to know!

Jun.K throws in a courtesy, “I don’t think it’s me” comment as we prepare our hearts for the reveal.

We’re taken back to beach scene, where Jei filmed her secret camera pick and where we left off last week, as Jei’s camera zooms in on the boys who have gone for a swim in the ocean.

Jei zooms in on Jun.K then pans over to JB (what a tease!), and the world kicks into dramatic slow mo as Jei says, “Although I enjoyed my time with both [JB and Jun.K], I chose the person I had a little more fun with.”

Cue Jei’s secret camera footage, once again, and it freezes on…Jun.K!

While the other idols are showering Jun.K with applause, Jun.K jumps out of his seat, and shouts, “What do I do about this!”

Not quite the response we were hoping for, Jun.K.

Cut to a heartbroken JB, who has a bit of a drama queen moment, saying, “Me…Right now, I’m just…I’ve been hit with a hammer. It feels like my brain has been smashed. It’s such a shock. I’m dizzy.”

But we guess it comes as much more of a shock when you were confident you’d be picked, as JB reveals in the interview.

Jei then explains why she picked Jun.K saying, “I don’t know if it’s because I talked more with Jun.K oppa, but I think there was more communication between us, whereas with JB, although we did get closer, we weren’t able to talk as much.”

She continues, “From basic things, like what JB likes, I realized I didn’t know as much about him as I thought.”

Now, on to Jun.K’s selection.

But before his big reveal, scenes of Jun.K’s previous dates roll across the screen, and we realize, Dang, he’s already been on dates with three out of the four girls!

But back to his secret camera…

Jun.K apparently filmed his pick right before the selection, around the time all of the idols had dinner, and we zoom in on the ladies at the dinner table…except Jei is nowhere to be seen in the shot. This is not looking good.

The camera continues to zoom in on Seung Ah, Hyejeong and Ji Hyun (this is bad, really bad), until we’re face to face with…Hyejeong.

What.

The cameras quickly pan to Jei, as we hear the other idols blurt out, “Really?” and her face says it all: She can’t believe what she just saw either.

Jun.K, meanwhile, hangs his head.

Even Hyejeong appears to be shocked by the turn of events, as she says during her interview, “Why?! I thought for sure he’d pick Jei unnie. What do I do?”

She continues, “Was today fun?” referring to her date with Jun.K, before adding, “Today’s date was really nice. [But] I don’t know why he chose me. I’m curious! I want to ask him!”

“Hyejeong is really cute [She’s] innocent and honest. She’s also really charming. I think I really liked those images.”

In his personal interview, Jun.K says, “Jei looked pissed,” before adding, “But in that moment, images of her with JB suddenly came to me, and I thought, ‘Why did she pick me then?’ She looked so happy with JB.” He added, “They looked like they were past 100 days,” causing the staff to laugh.

Jei revealed, “I’m having a mental breakdown. And I suddenly understand that feeling when I picked ‘Change,’ that feeling.”

She continued, “The girls picked the person they had their first date with, but it seems the boys’ hearts change from moment to moment.”

Conclusion: Boys stink.

Oh, but then, of course, Jun.K has to go and make things worse by leaning over and grabbing Jei’s hand. Talk about sending mixed signals! What is he thinking?!

Not now, Jun.K! Not. Now.

But when a staff member asks who Jun.K would pick if he could do it all over again, Jun.K sticks by his guns and chooses Hyejeong — although we’re not completely convinced he means it.

Now it’s Hyejeong’s turn to reveal her pick, and she says, “It was hard.”

And after being interrupted by Jun.K and Mir, both whom she’s coincidentally gone on dates with thus far, during her interview, we cut to her secret camera footage, where the camera focuses on JB for a moment, but we know better than to fall for that. The camera moves on to Jun.K, and we cut back to Hyejeong’s interview, where she gushes about their recent date.

But will she choose Jun.K?

Cue the secret camera footage of Jun.K’s back again, but in the blink of an eye, Mir’s face appears on the screen…and pause.

Hyejeong has picked Mir.

As everyone back on the lawn expresses shock, we can’t help but notice JB, in particular, who has a huge grin on his face, perhaps basking in the unexpected turn of events?

Like the other idols, Mir is also shocked by her choice, and says in his interview, albeit with a huge smile on his face, “She picked me, this kid…Jadu. Why did she pick me? It’s weird…But, to be honest, I was really worried. My dad watches a lot of TV with my grandmother, and I was thinking, what kind of excuse should I give if I don’t get picked. Do I have to say it was edited? But because I was picked, I was touched.”

He continues, “I was more touched than when we won number one.”

And when one of the staff members tells Mir that Hyejeong’s ideal type is someone humorous, Mir says, “She’s totally fallen head over heels for me,” as the staff members burst into laughter.

On why she didn’t pick Jun.K, Hyejeong says, “Maybe it’s because I’m only 20 years old, but being romantic is, shall I say, a little awkward for me? So, I think I felt a little burdened.”

With only three more idols left to reveal their picks, we’re provided with a helpful diagram illustrating who’s picked who so far, but unfortunately, no couples have come of the halftime selection.

We still have hope, however, as we turn our attention now to Mir.

All eyes are on Mir as he shouts, “Don’t look! Don’t look!” We’re afraid of what we’ll see at this point too.

Alas, the show must go on and footage from Mir’s secret camera begins to play.

Hyung Sik, who catches Mir filming him from afar, tells him to stop and the camera quickly pans to Nam Ji Hyun before the camera zooms in on...Jei? But before our minds even begin processing this potential twist, the camera zooms back out...and finally back in...to Nam Ji Hyun.

So, why Nam Ji Hyun? Let’s all say it in unison, now: Destiny.

“He keeps saying it’s destiny, but I don’t feel it. But he keeps saying that, and although it was cute and funny at first, i didn’t know [he was being] sincere.” says Nam Ji Hyun.

In what has essentially turned into a game of tag, Mir’s pick Nam Ji Hyun is up next to reveal who she chose.

She hands her camera off to a staff member and the footage rolls. Nam Ji Hyun talks into the camera before panning to the ocean, when suddenly Jun.K pops into the shot.

The tension builds, because the way things have been going, anything can happen. But only for a moment, as Nam Ji Hyun says, “[Jun.K] oppa suddenly jumped in.” Ouch.

Jun.K smiles uncomfortably, while Hyung Sik jumps for joy and breaks into a standing ovation.

And we’re back on the boat where Nam Ji Hyun is filming, but before she captures her choice on camera, we cut to Hyung Sik saying, “I think she spent the most time with me throughout today. So, I can’t help but hope that our moments together would remain in her memory.”

On his prospects, Mir says, “Nam Ji Hyun would make comments to me here and there like ‘You seem manly, although you don’t seem like you’d be,’ so I wonder if maybe she was interested in me.”

However, Mir is. once again, left heartbroken as we soon find out Nam Ji Hyun’s choice is Hyung Sik.

After revealing her pick, Nam Ji Hyun says she never imagined she’d choose someone who was two years younger than her, but we’re more interested in Hyung Sik’s reaction.

And the ZE:A member doesn’t disappoint as the cameras catch Hyung Sik doing a double fist pump.

During his interview, Hyung Sik says with a huge smile on his face, “Did you know I did this [fist pump] without knowing? Hahahaha. I’m in big trouble. I shouldn’t have been so obvious, but I was so happy, my hands shot up.”

Not that she really needs to explain, but Nam Ji Hyun says, “I went to so many pretty places with Hyung Sik. Because we kept going to such picturesque places, I began having these feelings I didn’t have before. I don’t usually like younger men.”

Hyung Sik is the last one up. Based on his reaction to Nam Ji Hyun, however, we can pretty much guess who his pick is going to be, and, for once, we’re able to watch with some peace of mind.

And so can Nam Ji Hyun, apparently, as scenes from her interview reveal her saying with a smile, “He probably picked me. He can’t pick another girl after taking all of those picturesque shots. Then that would make him a bad boy.”

When the staff member says, “But you never know,” Nam Ji Hyun responds, “I don’t know. I’m not nervous at all. I think Hyung Sik definitely picked me.”

And we can’t hate Nam Ji Hyun for her confidence, because well, we’re thinking what she’s thinking.

Still, we need confirmation from Hyung Sik, but not before we cut to a commercial break.

We’re back on Jeju Island, and Hyung Sik does indeed pick Nam Ji Hyun, and the one and only couple of the night is born (or remains intact, shall we say).

The other idols then shout for the two to leave as Jun.K still can’t wrap his brain around what happened earlier.

“I told you I knew it would be me,” reiterates Nam Ji Hyun in her post-reveal interview. “I knew he’d like me. I shouldn’t be like this, and I don’t like myself like this, but what am I supposed to do when I can tell. Hyung Sik said he wasn’t sure about me, but I was sure about him.”

“Shall I say, I saw another side to [Ji Hyun nuna]? I thought she’d be standoffish and calm, but I totally lost it at this,” said Hyung Sik, referring to Nam Ji Hyun’s unexpected dance moves. “I think I saw another fun side to her.”

So, only one couple makes it out of the halftime selection round.

We’re then shown a few candid scenes of the idol stars in between their post-reveal interviews, and we think it’s safe to say they’re all in a state of shock.

When a staff member says the idol stars can head back to their rooms, they all ask for more time to process what just happened.

Meanwhile, Nam Ji Hyun says, “My heart is comfortable...with Hyung Sik...”

The three un-coupled boys and girls then decide to go for a walk separately, leaving the lone happy couple on the lawn. Soon after Nam Ji Hyun and Hyung Sik celebrate their successful coupling with...a handshake...we cut to the six idol stars who failed find their match.

Jun.K attempts to do some damage control by calling after Jei and asking her if she’s hungry, while Mir pats Hyejeong on the head, calling her his “cute Jadu.”

Oh, how they come crawling back.

The girls finally ditch the boys, and Jei says, “My heart feels bitter,” while Seung Ah adds, “Dating is hard.”

Meanwhile, the Mir and Jun.K take turns saying they never imagined Hye Jeong and Jei would pick them.

Jun.K then goes on and on about how he thought it was over between him and Jei, saying to JB, “I thought, ‘Jei has left my side.’ It was crazy earlier...[Seeing them] linking arms and the skinskip was the end.”

Mir reveals that Jun.K completely lost it when he saw Jei hopping around in front of JB.

“The girls all said they thought I’d for sure pick Jei,” said Jun.K. “But when I saw Jei earlier, she looked so happy. I didn’t think she could look any happier. Standing next to JB, hopping around, [she was] loving it and smiling brightly.”

Take notes, ladies, if you ever want to make Jun.K’s heart melt, a few hops and you′re in.

“He keeps saying that he knows my heart now, but I don’t know” says Jei of Jun.K, following the halftime selection debacle.

But when asked who she would pick if she could send another message to someone, Jei said, “Still, I think I’d say Jun.K? Sigh, this is why girls are so pitiful. JB...sorry.”

And we still have hope for this couple!

“From what I hear, a man has to meet someone he likes,” says JB. “But I think knowing the person I like picked someone else is the greatest shock of all.”

“That person is Jun.K,” says a staff member.

“I told you Jun.K hyung is dangerous. That hyung is dangerous,” says JB. “All of the male guests were talking, and Jun.Khyung keeps trying to go back to Jei.”

Uh oh, will Jei break up the JYP brotherhood?

After a long and exhausting night revealing the tangled mess that is the idol stars’ feelings for one another, a new day has come, and it’s time to start fresh.

Next up is the clothing shuffle in which the boys will each choose a shirt that the girls each personally picked and be paired accordingly.

There are four shirts: two denim button-ups, one hoodie and one striped T-shirt.

Seung Ah reveals that she picked out the hoodie, and says, “I’ve decided to empty my heart and leave it to fate. I think it’s hard now because even if it’s JB [who picks my shirt], I know who he likes.”

Jei says she’d like either Jun.K or JB to pick her shirt because throwing another boy into the mix will only confuse her more.

Meanwhile, although Hyejeong picked Mir in the half time selection, she says she thinks Hyung Sik would look good in the shirt she picked out.

Nam Ji Hyun says, “Leaving it up to fate, in the end, it’d probably be Hyung Sik.”

After examining their options, the boys count to three and point to the shirt of their choice. And, miraculously, they each pick a different shirt. High fives all around.

However, Jun.K and JB each pick one of the two denim button-ups, once again pointing to the fact that they have similar tastes. Mir picks the hoodie, and Hyung Sik opts for the striped T-shirt.

After the boys give their best guesses at whose shirt they could be wearing, the first male idol star heads out to face the girls.

Before we get to see who the first boy is, the camera captures Jei, sitting with her mouth gaping, and Nam Ji Hyun saying, “Lies,” as he makes his grand entrance.

We find out the first boy is Hyung Sik, and the girls say, “This is so weird” and “It’s destiny” as Nam Ji Hyun gets up to claim her partner.

Nam Ji Hyun asks, “Did you know?” to which Hyung Sik responds, “No, I really like this brand, I have a lot of clothes by this brand.”

“Just get married,” says Hyejeong.

“I didn’t think you’d ever pick this,” says Nam Ji Hyun. “I thought Mir would pick this.”

“There’s nothing we can do,” says Hyung Sik as he grabs Nam Ji Hyun’s hand and walks off.

Thoughts:

We are reminded yet again through this episode that a boy’s heart can change in an instant, while first impressions seem to make all the difference for the girls.

They say never put all of your eggs in one basket, but we’re not sure that the same rules apply when it comes to love.

Jun.K has spread himself way too thin, and it’s shooting him in the butt. When you make every girl feel special, at a certain point, it’s not so special anymore.

But it seems the Jun.K-Jei couple isn’t completely lost, although it doesn’t look like JB is going to back down without a fight.

All this talk about destiny these last few episodes, and now we’re finally beginning to believe it as Hyung Sik and Nam Ji Hyun continue to find their way back to each other (although they never really left).

The remaining idols don’t seem to be all that interested in one another, so it’ll be interesting to see if their hearts change over the course of the next date.
